U.S. Marshals 8 A / S This should be titled 'Fugitive 2'. The marshals are back and this time Tommy Lee Jones leads the hunt for Wisley Snipes, (instead of Harrison Ford). As per the first film this also has a spectacular crash and the fugitive is not really the bad guy. Worth the admission money.
The Rainmaker 6 D As usual a promising Grisham novel that fails to make the transition to the big screen. Matt Damon and Danny Devito both act out their roles brilliantly but it is not enough.
Jackie Brown 6 A / S A disappointing film with a strong cast and Tarrantino as the writer and director. Too much swearing and drug taking. In fact the only highlight of  was seeing Bridget Fonda strut around in bikini tops. The very long and slow start did lead to a good ending, it's just that it took nearly 2 hours to get there when the film is 150 mins long. Definatley not Pulp Fiction!
The Man In The Iron Mask 7 D A heavyweight cast help keep this film watchable as the new 'Hollywood golden boy', Leonardo DiCaprio, seems to struggle to cope with his double role. Great costumes and scenery also help the film along to an exciting but fairly predictable ending.
Wag The Dog D Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman lead in this American political drama. The film shows us, the audience, how easily we can be deceived by the media and our belief of what we see on the news is really happening. Slightly disappointed with the ending but still a good film.
Sphere 8 A / S A high quality cast getting to grips with an unknown entity. Although this film comes across as a mix between 'The Deep' and 'Contact' it is still good enough to go and see.
Good Will Hunting D This was a great movie, a true 'feel good' movie. This film has it all, and just in the right proportions. Slightly predictable ending. The soundtrack was  surprisingly poor considering how much effect record sales / airplay have on ticket receipts or is that this film did not want to distract the viewer from the real storyline. The latter I hope. Go see it!
Fallen 6 S Good cast average film. Fairly predictable ending, the simple story of good against evil, God against the Devil. It does have some good moments, but they are few and far between.
Who Am I? 5 A What a load of crap. The only thing keeping the score respectable was the closing fight scene and a half decent car chase. This film jumped all over the place, there was no continuity at all. Jackie Chan get a grip and make a decent film.
Red Corner S Richard Gere caught up in sex/murder scandal in China. The story is slow but steady although the ending is a bit predictable.
Replacement Killers 9 A A true Hong Kong movie on a large Hollywood scale. Chow Yun-Fat plays a very moody assassin and he lets his action speak for him. His sidekick is the lovely Mira Sorvino. This film will not appear to everyone, but if you liked Face Off then go buy a ticket.
Kiss the Girls 9 S This is true gritty who's the bad guy movie. Morgan Freeman takes the lead in a film not unlike Seven trying to track down a kidnapper/rapist. This film will keep you guessing right till the end.
Titanic 9 S / R This film is really good. Whether it is worth the $250 million budget, I am not sure. The film is over 3 hours long and at some times the going gets really slow, but this all helps the ending to be even more dramatic. Go see it.
L.A. Confidential A / S A great film. My joint best film of the 97/98. A strong, quality cast get to grips with this script set in 50's Hollywood. This film really does have it all. What a great way to start 1998. Go see it !!
Devil's Advocate 6 S A really strange film with a quality cast. It pitches evil against good in a different way. A must see for those in the legal business.
The Jackal 7 A / S This was a real disappointment to me. Yes it pitches Gere against Willis, but it just does not work. The action is there but the suspense is not. Gere tries to play an IRA hitman but fails with the accent. The only advice I can give is see this before the Bond movie, it could come across better.
Tomorrow Never Dies 9 A This is the best Bond movie ever made. Although nothing could eclipse the opening scene from Goldeneye, this film has it all. Sexy women, one liners and all the action you could want. Some people would say that there is too much action and too many 'puns', but not me. Bond even gets a side kick in the form of Michelle Yeo.
The Assignment 8 A / S This may be dubbed ' a poor man's The Jackal' but it is a very good film. It tells the story from the otherside, how the authorities are trying to capture the Jackal and to what lengths they will go. This film has it all, sex, violence, action and script - and it just the right quantity. If the other version, with Bruce Willis, is half as good then we should be in for another treat. Go and see this movie.
Mimic 5 A / H Save your money and give this 'bug hunt' movie a miss. It come across as a poor mans mix of Alien and Darkman, without any big stars.
The Peacemaker 9 A George Clooney stars in this great action movie. Although the film starts slowly, it gradually builds up to a dramatic finale. It stands out from normal action films because of the instability of   Clooney's character, his acting and the intense action scenes. Nicole Kidman also stars but her best scenes are in the swimming pool, far away from the action..
The Game A / S Michael Douglas takes us on an adventure with more twists and turns than a day on a rollercoaster. A really good film only let down by a really slow start and an unimpressive Sean Penn
G I Jane 8 A An insight into the physcotic nature of the 'Seals'. Demi Moore does really well in this film, going from a sexy gal to a macho marine. Brings the sexual equality row upto a new level.
Picture Perfect 7 RC Thankfully Jennifer Aniston looks really good throughout this film, and she even manages to liven up the script. Without her this would 'bomb'. There are some hilarious moments. Without her the rating would be 6 or less.
Fire Down Below 5 A Being a Steven Seagal fan, I was very disappointed with his latest effort. Once again he chooses to defend the world against the 'eco-terrorists' and throw in some fight scenes. The sooner he gets back on track making films like Nico, Hard to Kill and, more recently, Glimmerman the better. Save your money and watch something else!
Nothing to Lose

C

Although I am not a Martin Lawrence fan, I found this film very funny. It was a bit predictable but still had a good story line. See what a man will go through when his wife cheats on him. The music video by Coolio was the inspiration to see the film and I was not disappointed.
My Best Friends Wedding

RC

A great comedy that had me laughing and my wife crying. Julia Roberts has such a lovely laugh but those lips just look terrible and in fact Cameron Diaz shines more as the real fiancé.

Airforce One 9 A / S One of the best films of the year. Harrison Ford just makes the film even better.
Conspiracy Theory 8 A / S Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts back at their best.
Contact 7 S / SF Make yourself comfortable because this film is almost 140 mins long. The film starts slowly and builds to a good finale. A must for sci-fi fans.
Face Off 9 A A true John Woo film with loads of action and stunts.
Twin Town A / E This film will do for Swansea what Trainspotting did for Glasgow. A similar type film with some funny scenes.
Scream 8 H / S Take your earplugs, because this movie will have them screaming and jumping.
Volcano 7 A / S Another disaster movie with good special effects but a weak cast  supporting Tommy Lee Jones.
Men In Black C / Sp A great movie with lots of laughs and special effects.
Dangerous Ground 4 A Not even a scantily dressed Liz Hurley could save this movie.
Austin Powers C / Sp Extremely funny with Liz Hurley looking stunning. You may find the story line a bit lacking.
Batman & Robin 6 A You will enjoy this a lot if you are a Batman fan. As for me the cast kept the film afloat and not the story line.
Speed 2 A / S Where it was lacking in story and quality of the cast it made up for it in stunts.
Fools Rush In 6 RC If your a fan of friends then you will enjoy this.
Murder at 1600 8 S A good suspense movie that keeps you guessing.
Addicted to Love RC Very funny but a bit too predictable.
Con Air 8 A A true action film in every sense with all the gore.
Star Wars F The true difference between cinema and videos.
Return of the Jedi F My favourite of the 3, made even better.
Empire Strikes Back. F The sound track makes the cinema vibrate.
Lost World 6 F Went there and saw it.
Lost Highway 9 S / T / E Just a great movie, see it if you get the chance. Stars a very erotic Patricia Arquette
Heat A / S This is one of my all time favourites. Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro come head to head in this film. If you missed it at the cinema then rent it out on video. A MUST see.
